Yumiko Niimi

Yumiko Niimi, originally from Japan, is a New York professional dancer and ballet teacher at Ballet Arts studio. A member of the Actors’ Equity Association and the American Guild of Musical Artists, her extensive performance career includes the operas Norma and Alcina with the Washington National Opera; productions staged by Ann Bogart, Director; the story ballets Nutcracker and Cinderella, presented by New York Theatre Ballet; Japanese traditional dance with the group Minbuza; and the musicals A Chorus Line, Elvira (European tour), Gigi, and The King and I (regional theatre productions). As a principal dancer with BALAM Dance Theatre, she performs as the Golden Deer in BALAM’s Ramayana: Abduction of Sita and in the Baroque ballets Garden of Love in Miniature and Return to the Garden of Love, presented by the Gotham Early Music Scene’s Midtown Concerts series.
